CFS Squared: Tales of CFS

What gives you a burst of energy?

by laura on June 6th, 2007

Yesterday was the most energetic day that I have had in months.  I was spunky and passionate, and totally entertaining (and talked a bit faster than normal).  One of my coworkers remarked that he thought I was hepped up on energy drinks.

The fact is, Hsien lured me into an  interesting discussion about performance enhancing drugs, and this was solely responsible for my surge of energy.   The discussion happened in the early hours of yesterday morning, and the effects stayed with me for the entire day.  Even now, its past midnight, and I am still feeling wired.  And not insomnia wired, either!

I must have too many people in my life dragging me down, that I have forgotten what its like when interesting friends can lift you up.   All it took for me to feel “somewhat normal”, was too spend a few minutes discussing a topic that I feel passionately about.

What does it take for you to get your energy to soar (for even a few minutes)?  Do you believe that a change in your social environment can make a difference in your journey with CFS?

I think you got it right there. Having passion for something, anything gives us energy and drive. Banzai!!!

It was definitely a fun day.

However, this new found energy has decided it would like to stay, and deems sleep unnecessary.

    What a vicious cycle!

I actually treat those bursts with suspicion. I love them while I’ve got them, but I know they come with a price. Passion makes me feel alive, but the next day or the next week I’m going to start thinking positively about death.

I still follow it though. Not quite at a fevered pitch, but I can’t ignore it either. Which is why I feel like I’ve been run over by a steam roller this morning (hey, it’s still morning technically!!).
